The Team
The Delta BayHawks were formed in January 2009. The club was developed to assist with the transition of North Delta Junior Australian Rules Football League (NDJAFL) to the senior British Columbia Australian Football League (BCAFL). The BayHawks are the fourth club to join the BC Footy which was established in 2001. The Bayhawks were founded by NDJAFL President, Coach and BC Footy veteran, Mike McFarlane with assistance from NDJAFL Vice President and Coach, Steve Bayley. For their inaugural season the Bayhawks were aligned with the West Coast Saints Australian Rules Football Club. For their second season in 2010 the Bayhawks are aligned with the Burnaby Eagles Australian Rules Football Club.
Round One 2010 saw the Bayhawks win their first B.C. Footy League match against the Burnaby Eagles. 2010 also saw two Delta Bayhawks players, Clayton Lund and Andrew Roosdahl make the World XVIII Team for the 2010 NAB AFL Under 16 Australian Championships.
Club Song
“We’re a happy team at Delta
We’re the Mighty Fighting Hawks.
We love our Club, and we play to win,
Riding the bumps with a grin (at Delta).
Come what may, you’ll find us striving
Team work is the thing that talks,
One for all and all for one
Is the way we play at Delta.
We are the Mighty Fighting Hawks.”
